Diomedea is the genus of seabirds that include the Great Albatrosses. According to legend, the Greek hero Diomedes was driven by a storm to Italy and was stranded with his companions who were turned to birds.
The wingspans of the largest great albatrosses are the largest of any bird. Albatrosses travel huge distances with two techniques used by many long-winged seabirds: dynamic soaring and slope soaring. Dynamic soaring involves repeatedly rising into wind and descending downwind, gaining energy from the vertical wind gradient. Slope soaring uses the rising air on the windward side of large waves. The only effort expended is in the turns at the top and bottom of every such loop.
This efficient long-distance travelling underlies the albatross's success as a long-distance forager, covering great distances and expending little energy looking for food.

Kevin Burrows is the Founding Partner and CIO of Diomedea Capital Advisors and Sixth Region Investment Management Ltd, both Bahamas-based investment advisory firms.
Kevin has over 30 years of experience in the finance industry, including an international posting as Director and Chief Investment Officer of London-based Nedgroup Investments. While at Nedgroup, Kevin had overall management responsibility for the London office and directed their international multi-manager funds with assets of approximately $1billion. He also served as the Deputy Director for Investments at the National Insurance Board, where he managed the nation’s $1.2 billion pension portfolio, and is the former CIO of Adi Dassler International Family Office (ADIFO), the wealth management office of the founders of Adidas.
As an asset allocator and private market investor, Kevin believes the Caribbean and African regions present a wealth of opportunities that can achieve superior investment returns and develop long-term prosperity that is sustainable and equitable. He is currently the CIO of both Caribbean-based investment manager, Blue Mahoe Capital and African multi-family office, 7 Generations Africa.
Kevin received a BA in Economics (Cum Laude) from Yale University and a Masters in Finance from Cambridge University. He holds both the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designations and is a former President and Director of the CFA Society The Bahamas.
